A secluded escape in the East Anglian countryside

Hedingham Huts

The experience

A Rural Retreat

Hand built by the hosts, this bespoke shepherd hut is located on a small, family farm in the heart of East Anglia. Nestled in a quiet field corner, it is ideally situated to enjoy a glass of wine watching the sun set over the countryside, or a morning coffee in bed spotting the local wildlife.

The hut itself is beautifully thought out, and retains a truly luxurious feel whilst being off-grid with solar panels for power and a wood fired stove for heating. Fully self-contained, it incorporates a kitchenette, en suite and bed all under one roof.

We are within easy walking distance of Castle Hedingham, a quaint English village, and are surrounded by a huge network of footpaths on which to explore the Essex countryside. Alternatively, simply shut yourself away from the world and unwind in front of the log burner. Hedingham Huts is a perfect destination for romantic weekend, an escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life, or as a rural base to explore the local area – as you follow the grassy path toward the hut, you certainly can’t help but feel instantly more relaxed.

Hi, and welcome to Hedingham Huts! Please have a look around the site and see what our special little hut has to offer. Feel free to get in touch with any questions or queries, and we look forward to welcoming you to the farm in the future.

Guest Reviews

The Hut is very tastefully made, compact and cosy in winter. It has modern furnishings but is equally rustic, and we felt very private tucked away by the hedges. Highly recommend for a very relaxing weekend away. Great wood burner too.

The ideal place to kick back and breathe. This hut is five stars all the way with every amenity you, or anyone for a matter of fact, could ever want or possibly desire in their wildest dreams. Great comfortable bed and views from every window. Lots of treats left for us which was an added bonus!

Beautiful hut which has been thoughtfully renovated, has everything you need and more. You can tell there has been a lot of love and hard work put into making this place so special. Sits on the edge of a field, hidden away, the perfect retreat. Seeing the deer at first light is a real treat. We will definitely be returning, loved it!!

OMG this is the most lush little place!!!!! The photos do not do it justice – it is so romantic and cute and just awesome. Andrew and Madeline were not just exceptional hosts – but they’re the sort of people who would go above and beyond for their guests. The hut itself was amazing. It was the cutest little place – we felt safe, warm all night (in Feb!) and comfortable. They have thought of everything. The bed was comfy and even my 6’2″ fella was able to get a good night sleep. The shower was lovely and hot, the loo was fab (odd thing to mention… but it is a hut, no porcelain… but it was so clever!) The little stove was adorable and the views unreal. If you need a night away, or just somewhere to stay – check this out. We have decided it will be our new hideaway place <3 love love love it.

Thank you so much for the lovely stay at Hedingham Huts this week. The photos don’t do the hut justice at all; it’s bigger than it looks and really comfortable, nestled in a quiet secluded corner away from anyone else. During the current COVID outbreak we were wary about staying anywhere overnight but Maddie & Andy had gone above and beyond to allay any worries, the hut was spotless (cleaner than most hotels we have stayed in!). Maddie & Andy are really great hosts and were quick to reply to messages and offer suggestions for places nearby. Can’t wait to come back to visit again soon and would recommend without question as a great place to stay.

A beautiful cosy small but amazingly well equipped thought out space in a tranquil spot, perfect for a break away from the hustle and bustle of life. They’ve done an amazing job creating this place and the personal touches, local recommendations and communication made the whole break a perfect getaway. You may want welly/walking boots as described, it’s in a field. Oh and defo sample the food at The Bell Inn!!! Yummmy and great atmosphere and service A perfect combination

We loved our stay in this Hedingham Hut! The design and attention to detail is incredible – the fact it was built from scratch is particularly impressive. The en suite bathroom and mini kitchen set this apart from other huts as you really have everything you need under one roof and don’t have to share facilities. It’s very private and quiet, perfect for a socially-distanced break. Lovely views (we saw lots of deer, hares and pheasants from the hut) and there are nice walks nearby to pretty villages. Andy and Maddie were very helpful with local tips and had left us some treats for breakfast – the fresh eggs were particularly delicious. Thanks for everything!
